The Rains came down, and the floods came up!

Wednesday night before Lydia went to bed she asked if we could go to the swimming pool in the morning. I had a doctor's appointment and on the way home stopped at costco to get a prescription filled when a huge rain storm hit. I was on the phone with Chris and he asked if I was home, I could barley hear him it was so loud in there from the tin roof and all and I didn't think anything of it. Got home fed Liddy lunch, put her down for a nap and went down stairs to check my e-mails and get the studio ready before classes started. Well little did I know what was waiting at the bottom of the stairs.
First of all as soon as I stepped down from the last step the carpet was soaking (me being really bright..ha ha ha!) though "What the heck, did our water softener leak?" uh duh!!! After checking the utility room, which is right across from the stairs and seeing that it was bone dry I continued to the foyer of the studio, all the while stepping on soaking wet carpet and this is what I found...

I promise my floors weren't that dirty ha ha ha!

The cold storage there was at least 2 inches, it easily went up to my ankles.
Luckily for us Chris had recently installed new shelves so all of our food storage was off the floor. The only casualty in that room was the card board box with all the tools in it (yeah!)
The water had already gone down a little by the time I got down stairs
Any one for a swim?
We have had flooding before but it never got past a certain point, this time there was like a pool of water in the studio I cleaned that up before I took photo's due to class starting in 1 hr
Welcome to our soggy abode!

It wasn't just watery it was MUDDY!

It was a huge head ache, but we were so lucky compared to some in our neighborhood. The builder has been understanding and realized that our home is graded incorrectly, as well as the drain that doesn't work (we have asked them to fix it on more than one occasion) so they are replacing the carpet, and regrading our yard. All in all it was a soggy mess and we are still drying out and hopefully by monday it won't smell like a mineral cave in our basement any more (ha ha ha!0

Favatella/Hardman Family Reunion

Last Saturday we had the Favatella/Costanza (with Hardman's) Reunion...Here is the explanation. We are Hardman's but my grandma remarried an amazing man Felix Favatella so even though we aren't Favatella's we certainly love the Favatella family and feel so blessed that my Grandma was able to find such an amazing person to share the rest of her life with, and a family that loves her so much. It was such a great time catching up with family we haven't seen in what seems like forever. There was good food, a raffle, live music, fire engine ride, horse shoes. Not to mention that the kids got to play in the new tree house that Felix made, as well as the HUGE teepee, amongst other things. Anyways it is always nice to see family and to meet new people that are apart of our family!

My dad and my aunt Suzy (she is the youngest in the Hardman family)
My aunt Suzy and her daughter (my cousin) Whitney
Whitney and her darling son Messiah...he is 5 months old and so stinking cute!
Tayjah (my cousin Jordan's daughter) Cordell (L) My cousin Pat's son, and Julian (R) My cousin Keisha's son.
All the Hardman 2nd cousins Lydia, Tayjah, Marley, Cardell, Messiah and Julian
Lydia LOVES fire trucks and my Grandpa Felix just so happens to have a real firetruck from like the 1920's it is so cool and still works and everything.
Love my little cow girl

Overall it was a fun time had by all, and Lydia especially loved playing with her nana and grandpa Hardman, as well as not having to take a nap (ha ha ha!)

Happy 5th Anniversary!

Where we met: Junior year of high school 2000. He was sitting on the stairs in the P.E. building fairly recently after having surgery on his elbow. I was walking to dance company and saw him trying to put his own bandage on which wasn't working so I asked if he needed help.

Love at first sight? For me yes (ha ha ha) for him no (ha ha ha)

First kiss: Spring break 2000. Yes I know it was spring break St.George but we talked for hours in what we would call "The garden of Eden" because it was this perfect little grassy knoll. We barley knew one another but we told each other things that you would usually wait to tell until you knew someone better. It was the sweetest kiss and later become known as "Porcelain" (it is a song by the Red hot chili peppers" as that was the only way I could describe it (ha ha ha!) We held hands as we walked back to our friends and we found a frog on the way that we called "Kermit" ha ha ha!

Journal: I wrote in my journal after that first kiss "I am going to marry Chris Knudsen"...I guess you really do know when it is right even if you are only 17

Dances: We went to Spring fling jr year, Homecoming sr. year, Husky Howl sr year and girls pref sr year. Girls pref Chris even fake asked himself because I hadn't gotten around to it yet because he heard some other girl was going to ask him and we had already decided we were going together (ha ha ha!)

Extreme dating: For my 18th birthday Chris took me skydiving...it was an experience that we shared that I will never forget!

College: I went away to Boise State on a dance scholarship. I thought that would be the end but I managed to come home fairly often and Chris even came to Boise a few times. One time he totally surprised me we were talking on the phone and he made it sound like he was at home and was just wondering where it was that I lived exactly...next thing I know there is a knock at the door and he is standing there with flowers...I was smitten to say the least.

Mission: He served his mission in Buenos Aires West and I will say that my love for Chris grew more in those two year then it had in the 3 years I had known him before his mission. We wrote every week and even though I wasn't supposedly "waiting" there was never a guy that I met or went out with that could come even remotely close to holding a candle to Chris. He was such an amazing missionary, and I truly believe that absence does make the heart grow fonder.

Post-Mission: He was so weird and I was so nervous. I will never forget his first night home telling him about "Pirates of the Caribbean" a new movie that had come out and saying we should go see it sometime (ok maybe I was a little off too) but his reply was "All I really want to watch is a movie about the restoration of the church" ha ha ha...I thought oh he is weird and this won't work.

Not dating: After the mission Chris was so serious about only dating to get married so even though we were together non-stop we weren't dating because we weren't getting married...it caused a lot of emotional times in our relationship and my family was on what would become known as the "Brittani Rollercoaster" for a while afterwards (ha ha ha!)

The Call: Chris and I never talked marriage but I will never forget getting a phone call from his mom saying "You know you may want to look at wedding dresses" I guess that was my first sigh of relief that maybe Chris was thinking marriage...so funny I had to hear it from his mom (ha ha ha!) I found out later that he had already set the temple date so that is why his mom wanted to make sure I had a wedding dress!

The proposal:Memorial Day 2005 Chris had invited me to "Breakfast on the Creek" a tradition his family does every year. It was raining really bad that year and so he called and said that the breakfast had been delayed but would be more of a brunch. I took a nap and didn't really think anything of it. He called about 11:00 to say it had stopped raining and that the breakfast was on. ***Side note: I had no IDEA whatsoever we hadn't even looked at rings, and really we hadn't discussed marriage more than hypothetically*** Once we got to the farm there wasn't anyone there and he said we were a little early because he wanted to show me something. I knew he had been working over at the farm all summer helping his grandpa to get it in tip top shape. So he took me along this path and to a little bridge over a stream. We stopped and talked for a minute I don't even remember about what and the next thing I knew he was down on one knee...I was ecstatic jumping up and down and I will be honest I even cried a bit. The ring was perfect and meant so much because he picked it out on his own. It was truly one of the best surprises of my life!

The Wedding: August 4th, 2005 The greatest day of my life. Salt Lake Temple, Joseph Smith Memorial for lunch. Hidden Valley for reception. Dancing, laughing, pictures, friends, family, and lots and lots of fun!

Wedding night: We stayed up at the Cliff Lodge...it was nice to get out of the heat and into the beautiful mountains!

Honeymoon: SEATTLE it was such an amazing honeymoon. We had so much fun and went on so many adventures! Pikes place market, la fantana ciciliana, Lake Washington, The space needle, Blue angles, Fish and Chips with my dad's friend Rick on the water.

And the rest is history...I feel so lucky to me married to my best friend. I get to share every moment the good and the bad with the person who truly makes me want to be a better person. We have been through so much together from the very first time we met to today. We have had huge things happen in our life that sometimes I take for granted. We have a beautiful daughter and one on the way and who are we kidding we are just so blessed.

Chris I love you so much, and I know I don't share it enough but you amaze me every day with what a hard worker you are and how you provide for our family financially as well as emotionally. You make me laugh every day, even if some days I'm not in the mood to laugh. You truly are my best friend and I thank you for loving me!
Love Always:

My little Ballet Dancer

Lydia had her first "Real" dance class this week. I was so nervous for how she was going to be. Would she listen to me, was she going to just dance all over like we usually do, would she try to take the other girls in her play room? I had all these reservations and worries, not to mention I was just so excited that she was going to be taking dance.

Anyways I had to wake her up from her nap, which as a dance teacher you know when a girl come straight from a nap you usually won't get much dancing out of that girl. But with the bribe of a Popsicle I got her in her dance clothes and a little more awake. Then it was off to the basement to get her warmed up to the idea before the other little girlies got there. It took her a few minutes and then she was back to her hyper, happy self. She is such a ham in the studio and her favorite thing to say is "MAMA YOOK" as she shows off one of her cool dance moves.

Then the other little girls started arriving and I was worried if she would listen...well she did great. She followed directions really well and was even the mini-me shooshing the girls that were giggling or screaming with excitement, I must say it was pretty dang cute. I also have to say that my 2 yr old class this years seems way older for some reason, not a single tear was shed and not a single mom sat in the classroom...it was AWESOME!!!

To say that my "Little girl is growing up!" would be an understatement but it is just about the only thing I can say to describe how I feel. I love that she seemed to love it and the next morning I caught her in her room trying to put on her ballet shoes and skirt and she didn't want to take them off!

The Bribe

Feeling a little nervous
And wammo...showing off her leg extension!
Her turns, I love the wind up (ha ha ha!)
Her favorite move the upside down leg extension
her run, run leaps...which obviously she LOVES!
Hamming it us as usual!
I only got one pic once a few of the kids got there just because it was time to be teacher and not mommy (ha ha ha !)

B-I-N-K-Y

The binky is officially gone, but the other morning I checked the monitor to see if she was still asleep and she wasn't in her bed. She hadn't come into our room like usual to say "Mom, I'm hungry" so I thought maybe she was playing with her toys. This is what I found...

She had found a binky and found a new place to sleep so mommy wouldn't come and take it away
HA HA HA!

Holy Hail!

WOW...What a hail storm! Lydia thought it was snowing.

The Big Nursery Reveal!

Well the nursery for our sweet baby girl #2 is officially complete (minus the name blocks to go on the shelf, due to Chris not wanting to decide on a name yet!)

I had so much fun putting this nursery together. If you know me at all you know I am not a very creative or crafty person especially when it comes to sewing. Lucky for me I have a husband with a great vision and a mom who is an amazing seamstress and very good at passing on her sewing knowledge!

Anyways I am proud to say that I painted the wall, frames, shelf, window bar and wooden flower frames. Sewed the bed skirt, pillow, drapes and three blankets all by myself (aren't a such a big girl...ha ha ha!) I couldn't have done the blankets without my mom's help on the crib one, which is flawless compared to the ones I did by myself. And I with Chris' help put up the satin ribbon and the "Twinkle, Twinkle" saying. To say the least it may not be the most fancy or expensive nursery but I will say that I absolutely love the way it all came together.
Who would've thought 96 yards of purple satin ribbon could look so cute on a wall!
Can't wait to be able to put the name up on the shelf, then it will really feel complete!
Don't look too close at the saying, I had to take down the bottom two lines letter by letter and re-adjust them because we put them up crooked (yeah it took me FOREVER!!!)
I wish I had a close up of the blanket my mom made her, it is seriously so DARLING!
Can't wait to spend countless hours with baby girl #2 in this little nursery!

This is my favorite pic of her holding on to grandpa's finger

Baby Girl

Baby Girl
This is our baby girl at 16 weeks. It was such an amazing thing to see her moving and count all of her fingers and toes for the first time. I know I bawled and Chris won't admitt it, but he was pretty emotional as well.

It's a girl!

It's a girl!

She's going to be a dancer
